The chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Board, SUBEB, Professor Modupe Adelabu, has been named the new deputy governor of the state. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, said the governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has forwarded her name to the state House of Assembly for consideration.
This followed the death on April 6 of Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, the immediate past deputy governor. According to Oyebode, the governor had, "in a letter dated May 3, 2013, and addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, requested the House to consider Professor Adelabu for the position of deputy governor, in the bid to fill the vacant position following the death of the former deputy governor, Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, on April 6, 2013".
